Behind the Scenes at A21 in Greece
In Dec 2017 I traveled to Thessaloniki Greece to meet with the team at A21.
A21 is a nonprofit organization fueled by radical hope that human beings everywhere will be rescued from bondage and completely restored. A21 works to free slaves and disrupt the demand.
I first learned about A21 at Heart for the House night at Hillsong NYC and when I learned about the victims of human trafficking my heart was broken. We began donating 10% of every product sold to this organization and have since raised over +$35,000!
I was eager to thank the A21 team and get a behind the scene look at how our investment is being used. Check out my Vlog of the trip.
The truth is I didn't have to fly to Greece to see this problem. We have a massive problem with sex trafficking in American. It is happening in our backyard.

This month marks something so special ... 10 years ago, I saw a missing person poster at an airport in Greece that would forever change my life. Up until that moment, I had never even heard of human trafficking. But I soon discovered that around the world, men, women and children were being exploited in horrific ways. The child’s name on the missing person poster was Sophia, the same name as my daughter. It felt so personal and so close to home, and I knew I had to do something about it. Not long after that, my husband Nick and I founded A21. It was birthed out of a conviction that we needed to be a part of putting an end to this injustice. We weren’t experienced. And we didn’t have all the answers. But we were dedicated and believed everything that could be done, needed to be done because the ONE— the young girl held captive for sex, the elderly man forced into labor, the 5-year-old child beaten and bruised in order to beg — is worth it. Every human being is priceless, and should never be bought or sold. And though I've seen the brokenness in the lives of so many victims of slavery over the last 10years, I've also seen the restoration and renewed hope that can come alive within the heart of a survivor who is cared for and loved ... as well as the increased justice and punishment for those who abuse and exploit the lives of others. With everything in me, I believe more than ever that slavery can end in the 21st century.
